Yoga spaces have to inspire without detracting, we decided to locate the yoga platform pulled back from the beach and raised above the tree canopy, creating a serene filtered view of the beach looking through tree canopy’s, and allowing the visitors to focus on the foreground, the trees or the ocean beyond.
The backdrop of the canopy platform is an amazing old chilamate tree with its roots spread behind the floor link of the platform, creating a sculptural backdrop to the area. The platform was design with different levels and ambiences allowing indoor and outdoor yoga sessions.
The platform is a celebration of the palapa typical building structures of the area, creating a cathedral like palapa structure with a steeper pitch than normal, the columns where designed as lightweight treelike structures, splited into branches to support the roof.
The 4,300 sq. ft. Yoga Platform creates full communion with nature. Fragrant earth, billowing wind, and the sound of the ocean fully engage the senses and enliven the spirit.
