Tucked in Panama City’s historic Casco Viejo district, the American Trade Hotel gets top marks for its design, the result of a collaboration between Atelier Ace (the creative force behind the Ace Hotels), Panama City-based Conservatorio (a real estate developer committed to the preservation of Casco Viejo), L.A.-based Commune Design, Hache Uve and Simplemente Madera.
The hotel is located on Plaza Herrera in Casco Viejo, the oldest district of Panama City. The walled neighbourhood was the centre of Panamanian life for 300 years, before it fell into a state of disrepair. Today is one of the most beautiful locations of Panamá City and was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
The rooms and public space furniture where designed to reflect the spirit of the turn of the last century. The furniture was produced by Simplemente Madera, mostly with reclaimed hardwoods from Hurricane Felix. Each room is a melange of design notions. The contemporary custom designed furniture mixes with the vintage furniture pieces and delivers a perfect design blend. Textiles, tropical patterns, leather, cane, organic materials, prints and vintage metal table tops.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
